SUV and 4×4 Rental at Tirana Airport (Rinas)

Nineteen SUVs from €50 a day, including three seven-seat Audi Q7s. This is the group that matters if your route leaves the tarmac: Theth, Valbona, the Llogara pass, or any mountain village where the surface turns to gravel.

Where an SUV is worth it in Albania

Albania rewards a higher car the moment you leave the main roads, and a great deal of the best of the country is exactly there.

  • Theth and the Valbona valley. The approach roads are the reason this group exists. Ground clearance matters more here than four-wheel drive.
  • Mountain villages and unpaved side roads, including much of the interior between Berat and Gjirokastër.
  • Five to seven people, or four travelling with serious luggage.
  • Winter driving inland, where snow reaches the northern mountain roads and the higher passes.
  • Long days on rough surfaces. You sit higher, see further over the bends, and stop thinking about the road.

For Tirana, Durrës, Berat, Krujë and the coastal road down to Vlorë and Saranda, a standard car is comfortable and easier to park. Either way, tell us the route and we will point you at the right group.

Tell us your route before you book

Some mountain roads are seasonal and conditions change through the year. Message us with where you are heading and we will confirm which car suits it, including whether you want proper all-wheel drive or simply the extra ground clearance.

Common questions

Are the SUVs automatic?

Nearly all of them. Thirty-nine of ATT’s forty-one cars overall are automatic. Set the Transmission filter to Automatic on the booking form to be certain for your dates.

Is every SUV four-wheel drive?

No — several are front-wheel-drive crossovers, which is genuinely fine for the roads most visitors drive, including Theth in summer. The Audi Q5 quattro and Q7 are the proper all-wheel-drive options. If you specifically need all-wheel drive, say so when you book rather than assuming.

Can I take it into Montenegro or Kosovo?

Yes, but it must be arranged before you travel. Driving outside Albania requires additional insurance at extra cost, and while abroad the operating costs and full liability for the vehicle sit with you.

Will 250 km a day be enough?

For a coastal trip, easily. For a northern mountain loop it can be tight, because the routes double back. Tell us the plan when you book and we will agree any extra distance up front rather than at the end.
